The pyramids of Mexico are monumental stone structures built by ancient Mesoamerican civilizations such as the Maya, Aztecs, and the people of Teotihuacan. These pyramids were mainly used for religious ceremonies and astronomical observations.
Pyramid of the Sun (Teotihuacan)
The Pyramid of the Sun is one of the largest pyramids in the world. It was built around the 1st–2nd century AD and dominates the ancient city of Teotihuacan.
Pyramid of the Moon
The Pyramid of the Moon is located at the northern end of the Avenue of the Dead. It played an important role in ceremonial and ritual activities.
Kukulkan Pyramid (Chichén Itzá)
The Kukulkan Pyramid, also known as El Castillo, is a famous Maya structure. During the equinoxes, sunlight creates a shadow resembling a serpent descending the stairs.
